Biography ofAlphaside

Alphaside is much more than just a musical project. Born from the creative mind of Amann Autran, founder and lead member of the group Autran, this parallel project embodies a space where emotion and musicality are the only priorities. In this indie/dream pop universe with accents of the 60s and 70s, Alphaside invites us on a sonic and visual journey filled with nostalgia and softness.

After reaching a large audience with Autran and accumulating hundreds of thousands of streams worldwide, Amann felt the need to escape into a new, more introspective universe where he could let his inspiration flow freely, without the constraints of current trends or radio formats. Thus, Alphaside was born, an "aside" project (a play on words that is also the origin of the group’s name), designed as a creative playground where artistic freedom reigns supreme.

Alphaside's music is characterized by its immersive and atmospheric sound, playing on moods and emotions. Each track is an invitation to daydream, a timeless bubble where the listener can lose themselves in captivating melodies. Influences from the 60s and 70s are omnipresent, especially through the use of iconic instruments like the B3 organ and Rhodes piano, which bring a warm, retro, and authentic feel to the tracks. But far from being a mere tribute to the past, Alphaside also incorporates modern sounds and structures, creating a unique blend of nostalgia and freshness.

Alphaside's first single, "Love Therapy", released on September 13, 2024, perfectly exemplifies this alchemy. This dream pop track tells a simple and sincere love story, while bringing a "good mood" feeling from the very first seconds. The voices, bathed in pronounced reverb, wrap around the listener, drawing them into a dreamy state. With "Love Therapy," every note seems to turn the everyday into a delicate and contemplative dance.

Amann Autran, already known for his success with Autran (hundreds of radio plays, playlisted in over 2,000 stores in France, and monthly listeners in over 100 countries), has made Alphaside a fully-fledged project. This project reflects not only his desire to experiment but also his attachment to the vintage atmospheres of past decades, both in music and design.

In addition to the music, visual identity plays a central role in Alphaside’s branding. Staying true to his creative spirit, Amann designed the custom typography that represents the project. Inspired by the typefaces of this period, this unique font took over 24 hours of hard work to achieve a balanced, readable result, deeply rooted in retro aesthetics. Alphaside's visuals are intended to be comforting, using soft colors and images that evoke a reassuring past, inviting you to dive into a simpler, more soothing era.
